En Las Calles

Decisive moments become factually evident in the construction of the documentary series "En Las Calles." Inspired to bring awareness of issues that affect our communities, Lee Oscar orchestrates diptychs capturing poetry and solidarity in the streets. Juxtaposed objects found along roadsides highlight everyday objects as investigative sites. The town Gilroy became a treasured symbol for the appreciation of agricultural farming. Topics such as irrigation, underpaid agricultural laborers, and industrialized livestock production, go unnoticed. Although these issues may affect diverse individuals and communities, Lee Oscar focuses on the experiences of Latino communities associated with agricultural farming. Combining images narrate figurative significance to the disparate objects recorded on medium format film. Exploring the reality of found subject matters, Lee Oscar creates an intuitive interest toward promoting awareness to enlighten real issues.
